As a construction business owner in the state of Colorado, it’s important to note that the registration deadline for the Colorado SecureSavings retirement plan program is:

  • March 15: Employers with 50+ employees
  • May 15: Employers with 15-49 employees
  • June 30: Employers with 5-14 employees

If you do not register your employees by these dates, you can face a penalty for noncompliance such as a failure to enroll eligible employees.

As intimidating as that sounds, you do not have to create a plan through Colorado SecureSavings — you can enroll your employees in any qualifying employer-sponsored retirement plan, such as a Beneco 401(k) plan.
