What We Learned During CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2023
Every three years, the construction industry flocks to Las Vegas for the CONEXPO-CON/AGG tradeshow to check out the latest in heavy equipment and construction technologies, network with industry professionals, and take in some of the event’s educational seminars. This year was no exception — at CONEXPO–CON/AGG, we learned so much about what’s happening in the construction industry. Let’s dive into some of those insights.
CONEXPO SHOW ATTENDANCE
The event surpassed expected attendance numbers, bringing in over 139,000 construction professionals from 133 countries, making it the largest trade show in North America, featuring 2,400 exhibitors and over 3 million square feet of exhibit space.
ADOPTING NEW TECHNOLOGIES
The expo highlighted the latest technological advances that could help construction owners streamline their operations. From autonomous vehicles to electric and hydrogen-powered construction equipment, countless innovations were on display at the event that could make life easier for those in the industry. This included technologies like AI-powered project management platforms, automated safety systems, and real-time data analysis tools, most designed to reduce costs and increase efficiency without sacrificing quality or safety standards.
SUSTAINABILITY MATTERS
Another trend we noticed at this year’s show was a focus on sustainability. Companies showcased a wide range of green building materials and products designed to make projects more eco-friendly and energy efficient. Many attendees also discussed reducing their carbon footprint through recycling initiatives or using renewable energy sources on their job sites. The construction industry is becoming increasingly aware of its environmental impact, and customers now expect contractors to prioritize sustainability when developing projects. In fact, CONEXPO-CON/AGG has a direct partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, pledging to plant one tree for every show registrant — and this year, that’s 139,000+ trees going to a forest in greatest need.
SOFTWARE SOLUTIONS ABOUND
Finally, software solutions were everywhere at this year’s show! From project management tools that help contractors keep track of their teams’ daily activities to virtual reality headsets that allow architects and designers to “walk” through a project before breaking ground, there was no shortage of innovative software solutions available for all types of businesses in the construction industry. Whether you’re looking for ways to boost productivity or improve customer service, a software solution could help your business succeed.
CONCLUSION
Overall, CONEXPO – CON/AGG 2023 provided lots of insight into where the future of construction is headed – automation and sustainability are two key trends that aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Additionally, software solutions are quickly becoming essential tools for any contractor who wants their business to thrive in today’s competitive market. If you haven’t already started incorporating these elements into your operations, now is the time! With all these possibilities at our fingertips, there’s never been a better time for construction owners looking for new ways to succeed!
We learned so much during our first year at this event. Many of the companies in attendance are directly involved in building our nation’s infrastructure. Because of this, the doors were wide open for us to meet with many companies either beginning their prevailing wage work journey or who are public works pros looking to add retirement or medical plans to their employee benefits. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at CONEXPO-CON/AGG and look forward to seeing everyone there in March 2026!
